Happy New Year

Hi All !

Again, nothing new to report. Still fighting with the Moose Call but I'm starting to wear down. The noise is still there but the unit works real good when the outside temp is above 40F. Other then that, I cleaned up the site and removed some 50 pages of junk.

I have a steady bunch of new visitors each day, but still no Million Dollar idea.


Check back next month, this will all be worth it someday, or fail to do so.

Hello World !

This year is just about over and still no Internet millions. I can tell you that the hits on freestuff and the Titanic pages are all the rave. All because of the images found in Google search. Can't figure it out. Not much more to say for now I guess, winter is coming so I'll have more time to work on the site and think of more idea's.

Hello Again

What is Schmooseme.net all about you ask? This is the place to go when you reached "the end of the Internet". What that means is you've surfed everywhere for everything you want, and you don't have the need for anything else. But, your computer is on and there is absolutely nothing else to do, or your forced to sit in front of the PC for work, lets say as a receptionist or something.

I did not want to imply that your looking at Schmooseme.net rather then working, but if your a receptionist and there is no one in the lobby and the phone is not ringing well, you get my drift. So put up my website Schmooseme.net and look at the assortment of articles, not just one focused website but many different things to keep your mind busy.

Hello World!

Sound familiar? It's been so long since I blogged I thought it would be an appropriate title. For those of you that don't get it, a programmers first echoed words from his or hers first program is "Hello World". Anyway..

I've started to create original art work that can be used on myspace if you have a space on my. :-) I do not and I don't know how these creations will even work but I believe they are the correct size.

My Domain is free again!

NO thanks to RegisterFly my old .com domain name is now free, but guess what, I don't need it anymore! Some bum tried to sell it back to me after RF lost it. So I moved to .net and that works just fine.

Back to business

Well, I did e-mail news editors like 20/20, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and told them our story of getting ripped off. So let's move on. I purchased a new domain called schmooseme.net, (from somewhere else of coarse) not too mush different but I lost a year of marketing. Oh well, I'll let you know if anything big comes down the pike. Oh ya, I am joining with my son in law to create a site for a political candidate comparison. We'll talk more when it gets more information on it.

Everyone that has a problem with RF listen to me. You have no hope of getting your domains back, please just forget about it. If you can transfer them out, good for you, but if they are allready expired don't kill yourself. I've tried everything.

NOW LETS GET BACK AT THEM !

If you have an account with them, spend some time like I do. Every chance you get, open as many new support tickets as you can. You can fill out one ticket the keep pressing the "create ticket" button. If we all do this we should be able to agravate them as much as they agravate us.

In desperation I renewed my domain manually. You defunct system took 5 payments from me for 8.99 each. If you would refund those 5 payments, that would make use even.

My Registerfly.com Inc. Horror Story

The setup
I had three websites with registrations that needed to be renewed. So I use the companies control panel for my domains and selected a check box to “auto renew”. One site was due to expire on Jan 14, 2006 the other two were March 4, 2007. In December 2006, three renewal charges show up on my credit card, I thought to myself, this is kind of early to be taking the money for the two that were due in March but, whatever.
Frustration mounts
Well a few days later when I look in my control panel I could see that one of my domains is about to expire. My wife was looking at our credit card bill and noticed we’ve been charged two more times for the $8.99 renewal fee. Again I went to my control panel and saw nothing reflecting the payments so I elected to open a support ticket with the company to explain what had happened. I got no response for about 4 days. The next ticket I opened got a little snippy, and I did get a fast reply to that one that said, “Your ticket was assigned, please allow some time for us to work on it”.
Well, I waited and watched as my main, domain name expired, I then proceeded to place a long distance phone call their billing department. (I know this is a long explanation but it only get worse and I am getting livid)
The phone call
The first thing I heard was “you are caller number 5, your hold time is 5 minutes…” after 5 minutes, you know what I heard? “You are caller number 4; your hold time is 5 minutes” AAAAAHHHHHHHHRRRR. All the way down to “you are the first caller your hold time is 12 min.” Like a fool I stayed on the line, then line finally starts ringing, great I’m going to get some action…”I’m sorry all our support technicians are busy, please leave a message and someone will return your call.” Beep… Beep… “I’m sorry that mailbox is full” CLICK!

Ongoing
I know that when I open a support ticket, somebody sees it because the status changes from “NEW” to “CLOSED”, so I am opening a few support tickets everyday with subjects like “I paid you, renew my site NOW!” or other little annoying subjects, sometimes repeated 5 or 6 time. I actually captured screen shots of this area which I plan on publishing along with this story as soon as I get a domain back.
I’ll update when I have the end of this sorry story.

It's been a long time but I finely reached a money goal with Google. Now I should receive a check soon right? We will see. Still not a millionaire yet. I have not thought of the big idea yet. A big stupid idea that people will throw money at. It happends all the time. Welp........

Still Plugging Away

Nothing much to report this month. We are just making small adjustment here and there. Oh Yea, we've opened or should I say revamped the www.treasurethemalways.com site. I'll see you next month, maybe something exciting.

Update

Well, as you can see I'm still cleaning up and trying different things. I got some advice from users at Google Groups, much bad advice but some good. I've learned that there are not too many FireFox browsers users but, the users that use them, like to bash Microsoft Internet Explorer. My site has 1 out of 100 users that use FireFox, so I'm not going to spend time customizing my site so it looks good in FireFox. I can go to any site with IE and not have a problem. A Firefox user cannot say that. I know because I had Firefox for one day and ran into many, many sites that looked like junk with that browser.

Oh, well, don't get me started like they did. Anyway, I'm still plugging along.

Just an Update

This is just an update, today I'm using voice recognition to write this part of the blog. I moved some things around on the web site to a clean it up a bit, and added some family articles to read somewhere near the bottom. I also lowered the price of a square for advertising to $5.00, if you're interested click here and you can have your picture or logo with a link directly to your website for only $5.00 a month.

I removed the pop up box that was supposed to bring more traffic, that didn't work, it was only a test so now it's over. Still trying to figure out a way to get more traffic to the site, come visit me see you soon.

Moving Servers Around

Today, I'm learning some new HTML technique and preparing a new server to accept the Schmooseme code. Right now the ASP code is on a different server the HTML. I need to combine them. I'm also trying a free "pop-under" service as test. Sorry for the pop-unders but this is only a test.

Right now I'm seeing a hit when the pop under loads but I believe, like me, people are closing them as quickly as they open, and not giving one little look. Like I said, it's just a test.

I also hope to move my other horse site to the new server soon.

Adjustments Today

Hello again -

I moved some things around last night and this morning. I read a bit about having a "sticky" site, so I tried to move things that update daily to the top of the page. There are plenty of items on this site that are new each day, so you need to come back each day for a few minutes to catch up. More updates and color

Today in between snowblowing and snowball fights, I added some color to the site and moved some things around. I think it's really starting to look like a place that would interest some users. I guess if I think it's interesting and there are things to do and read, that's a start. In the back of my mind I'm devising ways to get users to hang out here, I'm still working in that, no rush, but I think it may happen if I keep focused.

Message Boards and Groups

I just un-subscribed to about 5 message groups. There must be 5 good users and 999 jerks on those boards. Users asking the same questions or trying to sell you something, not much intelligent life on those boards. Well I guess I got a few answers from a few good people but now it's a waste. I made adjustments to two robots.txt files, renaming them from robot.txt to robots.txt. Who knew?

Customized Blog

I just customized my blog page a bit in an effort to make it feel a little like the Schoooseme website. I understand that blogging may help get my sites name more visible by web-botts, so that's why I started this. Another something I read. In the end, when I hit the big idea for my 15 min. of fame. Progress Report

I'm building this site and attempting to get lots of visitors, just like every other webmaster. It's been about a month now, so I got a long way to go. I started with one site http://www.dailyusage.com , it's all about horses if your interested. Next the http://www.schmooseme.com , crazy name but catchy I think. I do not have a "base" idea right now but, I'll have a site when the "big" idea comes. I've read all the articles on "making money on the internet". Most of them are bogus, but I'll keep doing research and trying things on this schmooseme web site until something clicks, stay tuned.
